BODY LEADER OF THE MONTH



Our Body Leader of the Month award recognises not only sporting excellence but people who truly embody what a body leader is.

IAN

After training for six months for the half ironman our September Body Leader of the Month was injured just two weeks out from the big race. While Ian was still able to finish, the event has changed his focus to injury prevention to make sure he is at his best next time. Paul recently caught up with Ian to discuss what he now does as a body leader. MEL

Going from a pack a day smoker to marathon runner, our July Body Leader of the Month is proof you can change your life if you want to. Since taking up running Mel is healthier, happier and motivated to keep improving. Last year Mel decided to take on her greatest challenge yet, the Gold Coast Marathon. Facing a calf injury in the lead up to the marathon, Mel has learnt to understand her body and how to prevent injuries to ensure she made it to that finish line. Body Leadership Australia Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan, recently caught up with Mel to discuss what she does as a body leader.

BELINDA

With the right attitude, information and determination you can make big changes to your fitness and our May Body Leader of the Month and founder of Intensity Personal Training, Belinda is proof. In the past three years, Belinda has made significant changes to her nutrition and approach to training. She has changed her body shape, competed in five figure competitions and one fitness model competition, changed her attitude towards food and training and most important changed her attitude towards her body. Body Leadership Australia Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan, recently caught up with Belinda to discuss what she does as a body leader.

GEORGIA

It's all about doing what you love for dancing star and April Body Leader of the Month, Georgia Bettens. After an injury quite young, Georgia has been determined to look after her body so she can keep dancing for as long as possible. Currently studying at the Victorian College of Arts, Georgia is dancing over 40 hours a week and loving every moment. Body Leadership Australia Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan, recently caught up with Georgia to discuss what she does as a body leader.

LACHLAN

Injury, knee surgery and lengthy rehabilitation haven't deterred our March Body Leader of the Month from his dream of becoming a professional rugby league player. Through intense training, dedication and listening to his body, Lachlan Lewis has returned from his injury playing better than ever. Currently playing in the QRL's Cyrcil Connel Cup for the Souths Logan Magpies, Lachlan is also a member of the Canberra Raiders/Souths-Logan development squad, training with the Harlequin Squad for the First Fifteen Iona Rugby and travelled to the AIS in January. Body Leadership Australia Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan, recently caught up with Lachlan to discuss what he does as a body leader.

TIM

He may be young, but our February Body Leader of the Month, Tim Weigh, knows how important it is to be proactive with your body. Suffering from a back injury that had Tim sitting on the sidelines, he has learnt about the long rehab process and is determined to do everything he can to prevent being back in that position. After recently returning from his injury, we were very proud to see Tim make the Under 18 Queensland Basketball side, a great achievement. Paul Trevethan recently caught up with Tim to discuss what makes him a body leader.

CHRIS & VINCE 

Our January 2012 Body Leaders of the Month are couple, Vince and Chris Quagliata. After months of training, the pair took on Mount Kilimanjaro in December making it to the summit. We are extremely proud of both of them and what they have achieved. Paul Trevethan recently caught up with Chris to talk about what makes them body leaders.

JAIME

While chasing after four young kids and a husband would be enough to keep anyone flat out, our December Body Leader of the Month is proof that being fit and healthy doesn't have to stop when you have a family. Completing the 10km run at the Gold Coast Marathon, a triathlon and making a State netball team all this year Jaime Thomas shows everyone how determination and the ability to understand your body can help you achieve your goals. MONIQUE

Congratulations Monique out November Body Leader of the Month. As an opera singer Monique knows the importance of looking after her body to ensure she is always performing at her best. Through her continuous dedication to learn more about how she can use her body to improve her performance and not to mention the countless hours of rehearsals, Monique has been able to perform in a number of beautiful productions. Body Leadership Principal Physiotherapist, Paul Trevethan, recently caught up with Monique to discuss what makes her a body leader.

PAUL

Congratulations Paul as our October Body Leader of the Month. As well as keeping busy as a father of four boys, Paul has been in intensive training for the past few months in preparation for the gruelling Coolangatta Gold. Body Leadership was proud to help Paul along his journey towards the race on the 25th of September. Before the big day Paul Trevethan caught up with Paul to discuss his preparation and what we believe makes him a body leader.

LORRAINE

Congratulations to Lorraine as our first Body Leader of the Month. Lorraine is 33 years old and has been dealing with arthritis since she was 11. In April this year Lorraine made the decision to have a bilateral hip replacement. She is on her way to recovery and has so far been amazed at the results. We are extremely proud of what Lorraine has achieved. Paul Trevethan recently caught up with Lorraine to chat about what makes her a true Body Leader.
